Update on Noelani

Hello all!

I'm sure that everyone is probably wanting to know how our little bundle of joy has been doing. Well, yesterday she had her one month check up. The doctor came in and checked her out and he said that she is doing great!

She now weighs 10 pounds 3 ounces! That's just over 3 pounds heavier then when she was born (she was 7 lbs. 1 oz. if you didn't remember). And now she is 21 3/4 inches long. Only 3/4 in. longer, but still growing. The doctor said that her weight to height ratio is perfect. He also said that everything else about her is perfect, so that's great!

I think it sounds like Heaven and I make a pretty good baby :)

Busy busy weekends...

So here I am again, waiting for the weekend to come. Hopefully this one will be a lot more relaxing then the past few weekends, but I'm not too sure that will happen. If you've been keeping up to date with my postings, you'll know that we went down to Missouri 2 weekends ago for Noelani's baby shower with my family. And last weekend, we went to Ohio to visit Heaven's family. Her grandma offered to pay for traveling expenses if we came up, so we decided to do it. Her great-grandma hadn't seen Noelani yet, and she doesn't travel well, so she was able to see Noelani for the first time.

While we were in Ohio, we went to the Columbus Zoo. It's a pretty cool zoo, but we didn't stay there for a very long time, so we didn't get to see everything. Hopefully we can go back later and check out the rest of the zoo. Also, we got to see and hang out with one of Heaven's old friends, Tasha. I've met her once before, but it wasn't very long so I wasn't able to get to know her that well. We got to see her longer this time so I got to know her a little better and she's pretty cool. We talked about seeing if she could come up to Indiana to chill for a while, so hopefully that'll happen. I think it'd be good for Heaven to hang out with someone other then staying at home all the time with Noelani.

As for this weekend, I was hoping that we'd be able to just chill at home most of the time to get some R&R, but now I'm not sure how much we'll be able to do that. I was wanting to go around Purdue's campus at some point to take pictures of the campus because I don't have very many pictures of it, so that's one thing we were planning to do. Also, we were invited to someone's graduation party on Saturday, so we might also go to that. One other thing that I was wanting to go check out is there is a liquidation sale going on in town Friday thru Sunday and there is supposed to be a lot of good stuff there, such as computers for $70, laptops for about $120, and lots of other goodies. So I was hoping to see if there was anything good that I might want. So much for a really relaxing weekend that I wanted... Oh well, maybe next weekend?

Windows 7

Just over a week ago I installed the Windows 7 beta on my laptop. For those of you who don't know what Windows 7 is, it is the new operating system from Microsoft. So far I am impressed with it. It is everything that Vista should have been and was supposed to be.

It runs faster then Windows Vista and has better functionality as well. If you are familiar with Vista, you should know about getting a preview of a window when you scroll over it on the taskbar. Windows 7 takes it to another level by showing you all of windows you have open with that program (e.g. Firefox, Windows Explorer) and allows you to close them from that preview. Also, when you scroll over any preview, it shows that particular window in full screen until you scroll off of the preview.

It also allows for easier movement and access to windows. It allows you to easily set two windows side by side so you can compare what is in each window. It also allows you to quickly view and open recently opened files in any application.

One thing that I am extremely excited about with Windows 7 (but can't use yet b/c I don't have the hardware to do it yet) is the touch screen capabilities that it has. To see some of what you can do using touch screen, watch this YouTube video.

All in all, Windows 7 is awesome and I would recommend trying it. Right now it is a beta and is free to download and try. You can download it here.

Enjoy!

Back to Work

Hello all.

It's been a little while since I have made a post. Last week Heaven, Noelani, and I went down to Missouri to have a baby shower with my family and friends. We left last Wednesday and came back this past Sunday. It usually takes us about 8 & 1/2 hours to drive, but because we had to stop when Noelani got fussy, it took us around 13 & 1/2 instead. The way back wasn't as bad, as it took us only 10 hours. I think that she got used to traveling so she slept more on the way back.

As for being down in Missouri, it was fun. We hung out with my best friend & Noelani's god-father, Dusty, and we also got to meet his girlfriend. She was pretty cool and funny. I'm happy for him & think that he has a good girlfriend. So does Heaven, especially when the two gang up on him.

We also hung out with the family quite a bit. Everyone is excited about Noelani, and my mom especially seems excited to be a grandma. Willow is also happy about being an aunt. As for the baby shower itself, there were quite a few people who showed up, mainly family. We got just about everything else that we were wanting, so things worked out really well. And it was good to see everyone for a while again too.

As for this week, it's back to the grindstone for me. Working away. Our manager promised us that if we got a certain amount of work done this week that he'd buy us pizza. So hopefully everyone gets all of their stuff done so we can have a free lunch. We have a pretty cool manager.

That's all for now. Stay posted for more stuff going on!

One semester left to go!

Horray for the end of the semester! I had my last final for the Spring semester yesterday afternoon. I am glad that the semester is finally over. It has been so hectic and busy. Only one more semester to go before I get to graduate! Summer semester classes start on June 15, so I have about a month break before I have to go back. I will be working for the whole summer though, so that'll be fun as always.

As for work, we're having an end of the semester party for our group of 6 trainers and our manager. We're having food and games. I'm bringing my Wii for Mario Kart, and another guy is bringing Rock Band. Heaven and I made my mom's cheese ball and dessert cheese ball to bring for food, so that will be delicious. The party is tomorrow night, so we're looking forward to that.

Also, we're pretty sure that we are going to be leaving for Missouri on Wednesday. The baby shower is going to be on Friday, so that should be fun. Other then that, just time for a little bit of relaxing. As much as possible anyway, with a baby and all.

That's all for now. I hope that everyone is enjoying the blog and thanks for reading!

Finals, Finals, and more Finals

So this week is Finals Week at Purdue. So far I've taken two finals and I have one left. My last final is on Saturday at 3:20pm, the very last time you could have a final. In another one of my classes, instead of having a final, our professor is taking the class to Hot Box Pizza and buying us all lunch. He's a pretty cool professor. So other then my last final that I have to take, I am done for the semester, and it couldn't come sooner.
Once the semester ends, I'll have about a month with no classes, just working. Near the beginning of June I'll start French 101. Before I could graduate, I needed one Liberal Arts elective, and that was the class I chose. I tried to sign up for Spanish 101, but the Spanish department threw a fit about me taking it because I had taken some Spanish over 5 years ago in high school. So taking French made signing up for classes a little easier. Other then taking French, I'll be working all summer.
As for the family, things are going quite well. Noelani is doing great and Heaven is feeling a lot better. Noelani usually sleeps about 5 hours straight before waking up at night, so that's awesome. I just hope that it lasts, lol.
Also, we're planning on going down to Missouri next week for a baby shower. Approximately the 13th through the 17th, depending on how much financial aid I get for the summer. I'm still waiting to hear back from the financial aid department... hopefully soon.
That's all for now. I'll be back once more stuff happens!

An addition to the family

So most of you should know that Heaven and I were expecting a baby. And as of Friday, April 24th, 2009, we have a beautiful little girl. Her name is Noelani Kaylin and she was 7 pounds 1 ounce and 21 inches long. She was born at 12:58 Friday morning. She was extremely healthy and she picked up on nursing right away.

Generally, hospitals (at least locally) make you stay at the hospital for 48 hours to make sure everything is going well and to take a couple of tests at the end of the 48 hours to make sure the baby is healthy. Noelani was doing so well that they said that we could leave a day early. We decided to stay anyway because the people who take baby pictures had left for the day and wouldn't be back until the next day.

We came home Sunday and both mom and baby are doing great. Noelani has already gained weight and everyone is getting adjusted to how things are going to be. Heaven's mom and grandma were down for the birth and several days after to help us out. After they left my mom and sister came up to help out as well, and after that my dad and brother came up too. They helped out a lot and just left today. My dad and brother also brought us our new car, so that's great news!

Now, since everyone is gone, we're hoping that we can get settled into a set schedule for all of us and start doing all of this on our own. So things are going well and we look forward to what happens in the future for our new family!!
